Production Notes:
This wine was produced from the first plantings of the highly-regarded VCR6 clone of Sangiovese Grosso in the United States. Imported from Italy, this clone is used in the celebrated Brunello di Montalcino wines, and was planted for Cana's Feast in 2002 at Ciel du Cheval.
Tasting notes:
This much-anticipated release of our 2007 Sangiovese Grosso reveals concentrated aromas of black cherry and red fruits, integrated with a subtle hint of sweet pipe tobacco and barrel spice. Flavors of red berry fruits, dried cherry and refreshingly bright acidity fill the mid palate, extending into a lengthy finish. This lively acid-tannin complex is sure to improve the ageability of this wine. Also, this wine will certainly benefit from a few years of bottle aging to reveal a glimpse of its true potential.
